How to port your number out of Simple Mobile.

Porting your number out of Simple Mobile can be easy, if you’re lucky or can be a pain in the ass if you’re not as lucky.

If you’re lucky, everything will come in smoothly with the information that you need.

But if you’re not as lucky, everything will be a pain in the ass and take much longer than you hoped for.

So here’s what you need to port your number out of Simple Mobile :

  • FIRST AND FOREMOST, YOUR ACCOUNT MUST BE ACTIVE (meaning your service must be on, like still able to make calls).

If your service is not active, you can either pay their cheapest plan of $25 to reactivate (if you want to port out asap) or wait after the next payment is due (but port out 2 days before the service end date).

  • Log into your Simple Mobile account via web or APP and see if your IMEI matches the one they have on file.

If the account information shows you and it does match (usually they’ll only show you the last 4 digits), then the IMEI of your current device is your account #.

If it does not match, then it will be your SIM Card # (you have to try both - starting with the 8901x or all the numbers starting at the 2 after the 8901.

  • Then text NTP to 611611 - if the IMEI matches on file, the NTP (Number Transfer Pin) will come in pretty quickly (within 5 minutes).

If the IMEI does not match, then it may take longer than that.

If the NTP does not come back after 5 minutes, you will need to call CUSTOMER SERVICE and ask to speak to the porting department.

From that they will have to create a new NTP and have it sent to you via text and/or email - this process will take up to 1 hour to generate.

  • Make sure to use the ZIP code that is on file in your account. DO NOT USE THE ACCOUNT # THAT YOU MAY SEE IN YOUR ACCOUNT - THIS IS NOT THE CORRECT ONE.

For dealers who have access to the TFDAP, follow the steps above except use the TFDAP to access the customer’s account rather than the personal Simple Mobile app.

  • Use the zip code you see in their account.

  • Check the device to see if the IMEI matches the device they are currently using (they will only show the last 4 digits of the IMEI on file). If the last 4 digits matches, use the IMEI as their account #. If it does not match, use the SIM Card # - some carriers accept the full (18 digits) SIM card # and some carriers will accept the 15 digits starting at 2.

  • To retrieve the NTP, use the steps shown above. DO NOT TEXT NTP to 611611 more than ONCE; unless you are otherwise instructed to do so by tech support at Simple Mobile.
